FindRetrievers.com Help
What are the goals of FindRetrievers.com?
* To provide a
complete database of over 100,000 dogs with general
info on each dog. The database is built so owners
can add health information (perfect for EIC data)
and performance information, photographs, etc. We
focus mainly on retrievers that are alive
and currently running field trials and hunt tests as
this is where the future of the breed lies. In
addition to those dogs, we strive to provide full
sire and dam information as well. Photographs,
performance records, and owner contact info on the
current breeding stock is very hard to find. Our
goal is to change that.
* To provide a complete directory of clubs, kennels,
pros, retriever people, and vets. These are
searchable by name, location or by what venue they
compete in such as field trials and hunt tests.
* To provide a state of the art News Service that is
updated frequently to include stories about events,
health related news, training news and more.
* To provide and innovative Event Calendar including
ALL upcoming events and links to any online
entry service if available. The results calendar
provides links to all dogs placing in field trials
with any health data, performance data, and owner
info. Hunt test results are also provided.
How accurate is the information?
Material
on FindRetrievers.com may include technical
inaccuracies or typographical errors. All the data
on each dog and/or person has not been authenticated
and may not be complete. Data has been
obtained from several external resources, and
FindRetrievers.com is not responsible for its
accuracy. Please always verify with the original
source to confirm. Changes may be periodically
incorporated into this material.
However, our information
is provided by owners like you who have an interest
in providing the most up to date and accurate
information as possible. We work hard
ourselves, to look at all new submissions and to
fill in any missing information for each record.
What types of dogs are in the dog database?
We focus mainly on
retrievers that are alive and currently
running field trials and hunt tests as this is where
the future of the breed lies. In addition to those
dogs, we strive to provide full sire and dam
information as well. Photographs, performance
records, and owner contact info on the current
breeding stock is very hard to find. Our goal is to
change that.
You can also search for dogs sired by a particular
famous sire such as Lean Mac or Patton and see what
their offspring looks like, health clearances, their
performance records, and more.
How are dogs updated and added? How do I add
or update a record?
Dogs are
added as requested, as they place at field trial
events, and with quarterly hip updates. Health info
will be verified upon addition of dog but should be
verified by user with the official source, as we
cannot and will not be responsible for this data.
What are the best methods to use to search for dogs?
Typically
partial searches work best. For example, if you only
know a small part of a dog's name, simply type that
in and then hit search, leaving all other fields
blank. Often, the actual spelling of a dog
name is slightly different from what you think it
may be and therefore it is important to use a
partial spelling in order to maximize your chances
for the search result you want.
Apostrophes in a dog's name can be tricky. When
searching for a dog you will have the most success
by entering a partial spelling of the dog name up to
(but not including) the apostrophe.
Why are some dogs or people that I search for not
listed?
The dog or person may
actually be in our databases but you
may not have tried a partial spelling. Often people
use abbreviations, or there is an apostrophe or
something that prevents you from finding a record.
By only entering a part of the name that you are
looking for, you can often avoid this problem.
Although
we have a database of over 100,000 records, some
dogs and people are still not listed. Dogs are
added as requested, as they place at field trial
events, and with quarterly hip updates. For the
records that we are missing, we ask that you please
send us in any information that you have. we
will then have this updated for you as soon as
possible.
