Dave and Glenda Seivert’s dog ‘Thief’ earned his AFC Title by winning the Amateur at Port Arthur Retriever Club on Oct. 19, 2008. This win also qualified Thief for the 2009 National Amateur Retriever Championship in Hibbing, MN.
Thief has a star studded pedigree out of FC AFC Creek Robber and FC Castlebays Heir Borne. Dave and Glenda were looking for a puppy when they read Hank McNeil’s puppy ad stating the puppy price would be refunded if you were able to get 15 derby points. Well Glenda’s Dutch heritage told her that any chance to get your money back was better than no chance, so Dave picked out Thief. Dave had his doubts about Thief at first, but then he was able to finish his derby career with 24 points.
Thief went on in 2007 to qualify for both National Championships and then in 2008 to obtain his AFC! Dave has never titled a dog in all the years he has been field trialing, so Thief is Dave’s first AFC! Way to go! Thief is trained in the winter by Dave in TX, and the rest of the year by Scott Dewey. Congratulations on a job well done!
