Lola is a three-legged, yellow lab. She lost her leg at the age of one when she fell out of the back of her owner’s truck while riding on their farm.

Lola had begun duck dog training at Circle J Kennels in Springhill, LA, when she was a puppy and had four legs. After the accident, the owners, Jack and Natalie Wynn of Shreveport, contacted Jerry Moore and his daughter, Kristal, wanting to know if they thought Lola could still hunt.

Jerry and Kristal decided to give it a try; their most concern was if she could still swim. Not only could Lola swim, but she had become an amazing retriever.

The owners then decided that since Lola loved retrieving so much that they wanted to try running her in AKC Hunt Tests. Lola started off by running the Junior level of competition, which consists of two marks on land and two on the water. She passed all four tests in a row with no problem. That is when her fan club began.

Lola then went on to competing in the Senior level, which consists of two series, one test with a double and one blind on land and water. Within a year, Lola had all four passes needed and got her Senior Title.

Now at the age of three, Lola is running her Master level of competition with three tough series with triple marks and double blinds that must all be accomplished in one weekend for a pass. Lola got her first Master pass on Nov. 2 in Flora, MS. She was handled by Jerry Moore’s daughter, Kristal Mouser.

All people can say about this dog is that she has one big heart and loves what she does. Although this is not all Lola does. During the off-season from competing, she travels with Jerry and Kristal to different schools, churches and sporting events helping kids and adults understand that having a disability does not mean you have to give up your dreams.
