FC AFC Cody Cut A Lean Grade owned by Chad Baker

2008 Top Open Dog with 25 points and only four years old!
Chad’s first field trial dog, Blue, was taken from him early by an accident we all fear. He was hit by a car, so Chad began the long process of finding another pup.
He scanned field trial catalogs, trial results, and ads for that perfect sire. A breeding by Gary Sorenson sparked his interest, so he gave him a call. Gary pointed him to a breeding of FC AFC Code Blue to Ms. Lean Mac’ce (QAA). Dave and Kirsten Clark raised Mac’ce’s litter, and Chad decided to take pick male.
When it was time to pick his pup, Chad flew into town and spent two days with the litter. There were 3 males to choose from and two of them had tons of retrieving desire. Grady didn’t have the most desire, but what impressed Chad was how Grady followed him everywhere.
So Grady went home with Chad where he learned to retrieve many marks. By the time he was four months old he was running over 200 yards to the back pile. At six months he went off to Jim Van Engen’s camp where he learned his basics and started his derby training. In the fall of 2005 Chad brought him home to run a few derbies. He racked up 26 points in 12 trials! That fall he also jammed his first Q at 17 months and won a 48 dog Q the next weekend. Grady went back to Jim’s for the winter trip.
The next spring off Chad and Grady go to the triple DQ. Grady took home a first, second and third! He finished his derby career with 36 points in 20 trials. This impressed Mike Lardy so much that he called Jim to ask about Grady who quickly earned a spot on the Handjem truck. The rest is history!
Grady finished last year with 25 Open points. 15 of those points came with an amateur handler. Chad won 2 Opens with Grady and his friend and training partner, Ma
rk Chase, won one. Mike Lardy and Pat Burns also won one Open each with Grady. In addition Chad put 9.5 Amateur points on towards his title. Not a bad year and he turns 5 in March 2009!
We wish Chad and Grady many more years of success. Meanwhile Chad enjoys Grady’s visits home where he sleeps in the house and still follows Chad everywhere……

chad i am looking for a wonderful stud for next month. do you breed grady to outside females? if so what the price and conditions? if not could you give me another stud you would approve of. i have a bitch by canaltowne`s lethel weapon, out of a sweet n special riley. her name is lexus and our whole family loves her and all excited to have pups! thanks suzanne

Hi Chad – we talked a while ago about Grady as stud to our Phanny… since then, GLEN LAKE F4D PHANTOM, MH “PHANNY” Phinished her Derby year with 22 points (17 US & 5 CKC pts). She won her 1st Qualifying while still in Derby, then won her 2nd Derby the next weekend. She won her 2nd Qualifying at 26 months. Phanny won over both PINK – 2008 NDC, and AMMO – 2009 NDC (All-Time Hi-Pt Derby Champ)in the same Derby.
2009: Qualifying 1st at SARC; Amateur Jam at CSCRC.
2010: Open Jam Michiana RC 4/24; Amateur 4th Flat River RC 5/8; Open 2nd Wolverine RC 5/24 (she beat 10 FC-AFC’s, including the FC-NAFTCH “TIE” and our AFC Glen Lake Black Kirsty).
Her continuing maturity and trial experience bodes well for future success. Phanny loves training, is a very quick learner, “smacks” a water blind as if it were a mark! She is a strong swimmer in cross & head winds, an all-purpose hunter, field trailer & affectionate companion.
Amateur trained and handled by myself.
Phanny will be bred to a genetically clear Titled Sire next heat. Birthdate 11/6/2006

Phanny (yellow) will most likely come into season next February, and has 3 trialers already signed up for puppies, regardless who we breed to. She is a sleek 75 lbs of go-power and handles better than her “Big Sister” AFC Lark (Lark beat 25 pros & 25 amateurs to win the open at Michiana; phanny jammed that open).
I am leaving Michigan for Klamath Falls in about a week; maybe we could meet there – we would love to see Grady in action.

Phanny has OFA HIPS EXCELLENT – OFA NORMAL ELBOWS – CERF – CNM – EIC ALL CLEAR, just like GRADY!
