The West Kentucky Management Area is a WMA used often for many Hunt Tests and Field Trials in the spring and fall. Tim Kreher is the manager of the WMA and has been a great asset to the retriever community by creating beautiful trialing and training grounds. He has been very generous to the clubs by working hand in hand both at trials and during the off season by creating more retriever training ponds.

During the month of January the WKMA was right in the middle of one of the worst ice storms in our history. Over 55 people in a five state area lost their lives and over 1.3 million were without power for many days and weeks. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear called it “the biggest natural disaster that this state has ever experienced in modern history.” Gov. Beshear also called up the entire state’s National Guard to help clear trees in order to restore power to the area.

Tim has worked with FEMA on much of the cleanup, but there are still areas that need much work. Photo’s below show the areas that still need work. Several bird dog and retriever clubs have decided to donate funding to obtain a bulldozer. Lincoln Trail Retriever Club will hold a raffle at their field trial on May 2 during the Saturday Night Tailgate Party to raise money towards bulldozer operations.

LTRC will be hosting a BBQ dinner on Saturday night at the Wildlife Area lodge. They will be having a RAFFLE to help defray some of the costs the West Kentucky Management Area and the clubs incurred due to the ice storm. BE SURE TO PURCHASE TICKETS. Regular raffle tickets will be available Saturday at the trial. Drawings will be held Saturday after the dinner!!

LINCOLN TRAIL RETRIEVER CLUB TAILGATE DINNER AND RAFFLE: Saturday Night, May 2. Raffle tickets will be sold Saturday with the drawings Saturday night at the tailgate party. Prizes will include bags of Black Gold, Nutrisource and Eukanuba dog food, Eukanuba T-shirts, banners, hats, bags, etc. You must be present for the regular raffle.
