On Friday, April 17, 2009, ‘Upon the Wings of an Answered Prayer’ made history by winning the Derby in Memphis and becoming the all time High Point Chocolate Derby dog in history! Ammo came into the Memphis trial with 31 derby points right behind the previous all time high point derby chocolate, Nitram Bull Market, with 35 derby points. Nitram Bull Market was born 2/6/1982 and owned by Fred and Cathy Martin. Next in line with 29 points is Mike Judas’ Ten Bears Road Trip born 10/21/2004.

‘Ammo’ is owned and amateur trained by Bill and Micki Petrovish of Townsend, Montana. Ammo is sired by Wing Magic’s Louisiana Roux MH QAA with an Amateur win and whelped by GMPR Santa Fe’s Contender Tyra MH. She was the only dog on the 2008 Derby List under 1 year of age (12 points at 11 months old) and the youngest dog in history to win a derby at 8 months old.

Ammo, Bill and Micki drove from Memphis to Peru, IN, to run their next derby on Sunday at the Michiana Retriever club and placed 2nd there giving her a total of 39 total derby points as of this week! We wish them good luck and know that the point total can only grow, as she doesn’t age out until November!

Lou Magee and Dominator’s Duke of Turrell went on to win another Amateur on Sunday in Memphis despite threatening weather throughout the weekend. Lou and Duke are already qualified for the 2009 National Amateur Championship and gives them six amateur points for the year. Mark Medford and Jamestown’s Super Spud placed third which qualified them also for the 2009 National Am.

Two brothers, Tex and Cody, take top spots in the Open judged by Joe Skaggs and Marty Kress. FC Bayou Teche Tex handled by Mark Smith and owned by Jerard Ward won the trial, and his full brother, FC Butch’s Dream Code of TCR, owned by Butch Statham took second.
