With storm clouds brewing the Lincoln Trail Retriever Club managed to put on a superb trial along with a fantastic Fundraising Tailgate Party on Saturday night. Field Trial Chairman, Jimmy Darnell, kept the trial running through the showers and mud while pulling out a Reserve Jam in the Open and Second Place finish with Diamond in the Amateur.
Upon the Wings of an Answered Prayer showed up to garner another Derby win on Friday and then travelled overnight to Fenwick, Michigan to pull out a fourth place in their Saturday Derby for a total now of 47 derby points.
Lou Magee marshaled the Amateur group on Saturday and did a wonderful job selling tickets to the Raffle for the West Kentucky Management area. Kentucky was hit hard by a February ice storm with brush cleanup piles the size of city blocks in many areas. Tim Kreher, manager of the West Kentucky Management Area, had told of the damage to the grounds, and the retriever people chipped in to help fund the clean up.
Jeanne Garland, Jimmy Darnell, Dennis Bath, and Tammy Bell asked many for donations for the raffle to be held at the Saturday Tailgate Party. Jeanne Garland and Tim Kreher handled the dinner fixins which were delicious. Many trial participants chipped in to help with the raffle drawings at the dinner. The trial participants were very generous in supporting a great cause. Honorable mentions to Mark and Suzanne Medford and Mark and Lisa Ingram! Thanks to all who helped and donated! Over $3000 was raised with the raffle which will go towards bulldozer rental to clean up debris in vital areas.
We would like to especially thank those mentioned below who donated items to the raffle. Please show these vendors your support also!

The West Kentucky Management Area maintains one of the nicest areas the retriever trials visit with great land and water. Special thanks to Tim Kreher and the staff at the WMA for all of their help putting on this trial! Please show your appreciation of their efforts by contacting the state DNR folks at info.center@ky.gov . Hopefully, they will see how much revenue the dog people can bring into their state and direct more funding to this area.
