It’s that time of year to beware of the skunk. Spring time is when skunks are busier than ever spreading their scent during courting season. If you live in the country, then you’ve probably had a dog whose been skunked.
Believe it or not, the tomato juice cure DOES NOT work! As a matter of fact, nothing works very well except for time and a sunny day to burn off the skunk’s oily musk. Rinsing the dog can actually make it worse. The best bet is to try the following recipe for Skunk Shampoo:
SKUNK SHAMPOO
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup baking soda
2 Tablespoons dish soap (Dawn)
Mix all ingredients. Mixture will bubble. Use at once.
Don’t get dog wet, pour over dog dry, let sit for 10 minutes.
Rinse and repeat.
Of course, wear gloves and do this outside.
Have fun!
