Upon the Wings of an Answered Prayer, owned by Bill and Micki Petrovish of Townsend, MT, trained and handled by Bill, became history’s all-time High-Point Derby Dog by winning the Derby at the Michiana Retriever Club on Sept. 27 in Monterey, IN. “Ammo” now has 119 Derby Points!! The previous record was held by the 1997 High-Point Derby Dog, FC AFC Chena River Ripple owned by Leonard D. Ferucci, MD, with 115 Derby Points and runner up, NFC AFC Candlewoods Tanks A Lot owned by Mary Howley, Madison, WI, and Randy Kuehl, Springville, IA, with 108 Derby Points. Lottie accumulated 189.5 All-age points during her career. 124.5 Open and 65 Amateur points.
Ammo jammed 2 Derby’s at 6 months old, and she placed 3 times at 8 months old. She is the only Chocolate Labrador Retriever in History to make the Derby List under 1 year of age and then passed the previous high point Chocolate lab, Nitram Bull Market owned by Fred and Cathy Martin, with 35 points. Ammo is the youngest dog in History to break 100 Derby points. 106 Derby Points @ 21 months of age. 13 Total Wins including Two Double Headers.
Ammo has many other firsts among her 14 Derby wins:
- Youngest Chocolate to Jam a Derby
- Youngest Chocolate to win a Derby
- Only Chocolate in history to make the Derby list under 1 year of age
- Youngest dog in history to win a Derby at 8 months and 1 week of age
- She has finished and placed in more Derbies than any dog in history under one year of age
