Bill and Lorna Kolstad have owned retrievers since the 1980′s, but it isn’t until they both retired 4 years ago that they devoted their full time to the dogs.
This past October at the Phoenix Retriever Club fall trial Bill became a member of the exclusive DOUBLEHEADER CLUB with his dog Foxfires Lakoda Warrior, A.K.A. Kody. Kody just turned 5 in September. His early training was done by Jeff and Suzie Torrey of Buckshot Retrievers. Along the way the Kolstads have received much help from Don Remien of Rising Sun Retrievers who goes to California every January and stays through the trial season. The Kolstads have also had the help of many fine amateur groups such as the Erwins, Mary Ellen Mazzola, Bruce Mullis, Chris Allaire, Richard Underwood, the Calverts, Rick Arnold, Dr. McDonald, Jewell Easter, the Koeths, Gordon Powers, Mervyn Jacobson, Chris Willett, Laura Stone and Scott Seward. Without their help the Kolstads feel they wouldn’t be as successful as they have been.
Kody and Bill feel very honored to have received this once in a lifetime acknowledgement and now look forward to running their first National at Klamath Falls, OR, in 2010. They would like to thank each and every one who has helped make this all possible.
