Titering, the method of taking a blood sample to check an animal’s antibody levels against a specific illness, may prove useful for determining whether an animal has been vaccinated, but it does not ensure protection against diseases. According to this article, AVMA and several other groups do not advocate titers as a replacement for vaccines.
